BESPOKE CLOTHING

Have it yourway For some clients, tearaway labels aren’t enough – they want their garments their way, and their way only. Happily, there are plenty of companies offering bespoke services, from Pantone-matched polos to custom-made uniforms

Disley says it may be best known for its stock ranges, but it is also well versed in bespoke manufacture. “Producing high quality, customer-specific ties, scarves, shirts, blouses and tailoring has been part of daily life since 1950,” the brand explains. Whether it’s simply a matter of re-colouring an existing style and adding some branding or a more in-depth design project, Disley’s in-house design and technical team will work alongside you and your customer to create and realise “eye-catching, distinctive wardrobe ranges”. Fabrics can be drawn from the existing stock garment range, or sourced as new according to customer requirements. “With over 65 years of garment manufacturing experience, whatever your customer’s requirements, Disley will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, support you from concept to delivery and produce the highest quality garments, all manufactured in ethically and environmentally accredited factories,” says the brand. www.disley.com

Bespoke knitwear is a major feature of corporatewear, schoolwear and promotionalwear for Balmoral Knitwear , reports Mike Carden of the company’s sales and marketing team. He notes that there are also smaller, niche areas of business for bespoke styles, such as regimental sweaters incorporating the regiment’s own colours in stripes across the chest (pictured). “We can match specific shades, either Pantone references or other garments within a range,” says Mike. For large bespoke orders, such as big corporatewear contracts, garments can be made by a manufacturing partner in eastern Europe, while for smaller quantities – often school uniform styles – Balmoral offers UK manufacturing. Yarns include 50% wool/50% acrylic, 50% cotton/50% acrylic and 100% acrylic, each of which can be obtained in special colours for bespoke orders. “Bespoke manufacturing for us can mean simply adding stripe colours to standard sweater patterns, or it can mean starting from scratch from a designer’s brief and sketch, and anywhere in between,” Mike adds. “We’re open to new ideas!” www.balmoralsales.co.uk
